BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – With 46 days to go until the June Primaries, residents have begun to file with the New Jersey Election Commission to run for office in 2019.

In Chesterfield Township, only Suruchi Batra has officially announced her candidacy via the Chesterfield Democrats Facebook Page, though a total of 5 people are vying for the 2 challengable seats. Batra has been a resident of Chesterfield for 10 years and will use her business background in her campaign. Current Mayor Rita Romeu has also filed for reelection but has yet to publically announce. Former Committeeman Sam Davis has filed to potentially gain back the seat he lost in the 2018 election to Shreekant Dhopte.

In Bordentown Township, current Mayor Eugene Fuzy has filed with the NJELEC to run for reelection, and on the Allentown Borough Council, Robert Schmitt has filed. Many seats are up for election on local school boards, but BOEs are non-partisan and do not participate in primaries.

Here’s who’s filed to run in Chesterfield, Bordentown, and Allentown, NJ.
