CHESTERFIELD, NJ – Former-President Jignesh Shah has resigned from the Chesterfield Twp Elementary Board of Education. The agenda for the January 2nd Re-Organization Meeting reads: “Recommend approval of the resignation of Mr. Jignesh Shah as Board Member effective, December 17, 2018.” Shah’s term was to end December 31st, 2019.

Shah was a part of the negotiations team between the Board and the Chesterfield Twp Education Association. In September of 2018, Shah removed Board Member Amy Jablonski from the Negotiations team, and in an alleged email sent to Jablonski, says, “I’m concerned that our differences may impede our progress in reaching a settlement with the Association.”

During the September 19th Board Meeting, Jablonski chastised Shah, saying, “Time and time again, he has used his position as Board President to silence dissenters by gavel, to influence personnel decisions based on his personal opinion of faculty, to potentially impede negotiations by releasing protected information in public forums, and in this case, by changing the negotiations team at a ‘critical time’.”

Shah added Hoggan to the Negotiations team at the September meeting. The last negotiations meeting took place on December 17th and Shah was absent from that meeting.

According to Board Member-Elect Jackie Halaw, the school board would hold public interviews with interested members of the community, and then the current board would vote to fill the open seat. The timeline for those interviews is not clear at this time.

A request for comment from Chesterfield Elementary Superintendent Scott Heino and from CTEA President Bethann Molesky was not immediately returned due to the late hour. We will update this story once we hear back.
