New York Man Arrested in Bordentown on Credit Card Theft and Drug Charges

BORDENTOWN, NJ – The following is a press release from the Bordentown Township Police.

The BTPD announces the arrest of a Rochester, NY man after he was found to possess a credit card encoding device and several fraudulent credit cards which contained cloned data.

This investigation began on the evening of 2/3/19 at approximately 10:53 pm when Ptl. Kotora of the BTPD observed the operator of a 2001 black BMW make an improper lane change on Rt. 130 in the area of the Sunoco gas station. A stop was then effectuated and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was observed to be coming from inside the vehicle. Police then conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a credit card encoding device, three (3) credit cards which were found to contain cloned data and eleven (11) other blank credit cards capable of being loaded with stolen data.

The operator of the vehicle is identified as Lavau Auguste, age 26, of Ellicott St. in Rochester, NY, and he was charged with credit card theft, possession of a forgery device, trafficking in personal identification items of another, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana. The vehicle’s passenger, Sheelove Joseph, age 26, of 101st Ave. Queens, NY, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Auguste was lodged in the Burlington County Jail and Joseph was released pending a future court date.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
