DHOPTE TAKES LEAD IN CHESTERFIELD TWP COMMITTEE RACE

Update: After updated numbers from Burlington County Clerk Timothy Tyler released Thursday night, Shreekant Dhopte has taken a 110 vote lead over Incumbent Sam Davis. These are still described by Burlco as unofficial results and did not explain how many more votes are still to be counted.

DHOPTE: 1157 votes
DAVIS: 1047 votes
SHAH: 204 votes

The Chesterfield Democratic Party declared victory for Shreekant Dhopte Thursday morning after receiving updated information including some absentee and provisional numbers.

CHESTERFIELD, NJ – With 109 Absentee Ballots and 34 Provisional Ballots, the race for Chesterfield Township Committee is too close to call tonight between Republican Incumbent Sam Davis and Democrat Shreekant Dhopte.

Dhopte is currently leading with 996 votes to Davis’ 943, but with 143 ballots still waiting to be reviewed, the race could change with the official Burlington County numbers.

Independent Candidate Jignesh Shah had 180 votes.

Jackie Halaw will be the next member of the Chesterfield Twp Board of Education with 1283. She was running unopposed.

Gerry Spence will continue to represent Chesterfield on the Northern Burlington Board of Education with 1142 votes. Current Chesterfield School Board Member Laura Bond ran a write-in effort but received 76 votes.
