CHESTERFIELD, NJ – According to new numbers released Friday night by Burlington County, Democratic Candidate Dhopte’s lead over Incumbent Sam Davis has increased to a 117 vote difference, giving him the win in the Chesterfield Township Committee Race.

A new article from the Burlington County Times reports that the County has finished counting 3,765 provisional ballots and added these to the new totals released Friday, November 16 at 6:55pm. Dhopte has 1,174 votes, Davis has 1,057 votes, and Shah has 211 votes. 8 people chose to write in a candidate.

Unseated Incumbent Sam Davis tells WBNC News that he wants to thank the Chesterfield Township community and that he was impressed by the high turnout on Election Day. He enjoyed going door-to-door and meeting everyone while he was campaigning.

Dhopte’s win comes 12 days after 2,182 residents in Chesterfield Township cast their ballot in the November 6th elections; over 56% of registered voters, which is high for a midterm. The 12-day wait is comparatively shorter than the 2016 Chesterfield Twp Committee Race, which wasn’t decided until a judge rendered a verdict on January 26th, 47 days after the election.

Dhopte won the Democratic Nomination over Hallion by more than 100 votes back in June. Chesterfield Township will hold their re-organization Committee meeting on January 3rd, 2019 at 7pm. WBNC News will be there.
