HOWELL TWP, NJ –

Two tornadoes were confirmed to have hit Howell Township yesterday morning at approximately 7:21 AM.

Winds associated with the tornadoes reached maximum speeds of 75 MPH. The above video shows the storm rip the sliding doors right off of their tracks at the Home Depot.

Several minutes later the second tornado hit the area 3.5 miles away from the first storm.

“While it might appear that tornadoes in New Jersey are an uncommon occurrence, the Garden State has averaged two tornadoes annually in the past 20 years,” said Sarah Johnson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Mt. Holly office.

The weather agency and local police have stated that there were no reports of injuries from these storms.
