CHERRY HILL, NJ – An emotionally charged public meeting of the Pinelands Commission ended in disappointment and anger for most of the protesters present.

The Commission voted this week to approve the proposed Pipeline, which partially runs through the preserved pinelands. The vote was 9 yes to 5 no, with 1 abstained.

Environmentalists say the pipeline could harm the fragile pinelands, and that the point of the Commission was to protect them.

Jeff Tittel of the NJ Sierra Club spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting. “I’ve never seen a board violate their oath of office, violate the mission of the agency they work for, to push through this pipeline for Governor Christie and his cronies… The law and the rules are very clear… We sued you once, we’re going to sue you again.”
