MOUNT HOLLY, NJ – A judge today declared Rita Romeu a winner in the 2016 Chesterfield Township Committee Election.

2 more votes from Chesterfield residents whose ballots did not originally count was all it took Wednesday afternoon to end the long-standing tie between Democratic Candidate Rita Romeu and Republican Ron Kolczynski.

Romeu, now with 1291 votes, will join Andrea Katz, who took the oath of office for the Township Committee back on January 2nd of this year. Rita Romeu will take her oath of office tomorrow, Thursday, January 26th, at 7pm.

Both Romeu and Kolczynski witnessed a special recount that took place in early December.

WBNC News will be at the Committee Meeting tomorrow night.
